Meet Our Defenders

RBYRD-Photo.jpegDefending against sophisticated cyber threats takes more than technology. It takes people. People with skills and innate qualities to outpace today’s evolving threat landscape. Qualities we call “defender DNA.”

What drives you to be a Defender?

I was born to be a Defender! My family instilled the values of service, protection, and hard work in me at an early age. In contemplating the cyber security challenge, the stakes are extremely high: in a world of Wolves, Sheep, and Sheep Dogs, I choose to be a Sheep Dog!

What is your strongest defender DNA quality?

Leadership and Strategy. Having been in Cybersecurity for 23+ years, it has been an honor to serve my clients and to help develop the next generation of cyber leaders. When I first started my career in the field, Cybersecurity was a backroom conversation. Now, it is a “Top 5 Business Concern” of Senior Executives and Board Members. Developing a sound security strategy in alignment with business requirements is my passion, and I thrive on sharing that passion with others.

How do you prove you have defender DNA?

Performance. I have been blessed to be part of high performing teams in sports, the military, and in my career. And all these teams have a common denominator – delivering at critical times under high pressure. My team at Leidos consistently operates at peak performance by understanding our customer’s needs and delivering cybersecurity excellence.

How does your defender DNA benefit Leidos clients?

Resilience through Cyber Maturity. At the end of the day, our clients seek defensible, proven, and resilient cybersecurity operations. They balance business needs with operational risk and risk mitigation strategy. This balance is supported by combining people, process, and technology. Walking with a customer down a cyber maturation pathway is personally and professionally rewarding for me, as well as a benefit to my clients.
